Slice the figs in half, lengthwise. Sprinkle each half with one teaspoon sugar.
If you have a small torch burn the sugar on top of the figs, like making crème brûlée. Otherwise, run the figs under the broiler for a couple minutes, just to caramelize the sugar. This will make a crispy caramel topping.
You can enjoy your figs like this, or serve them with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, and garnish with mint leaves.
Serve immediately.
